Need to know whether to upgrade from 2933mhz to 3600mhz. Do you think it would be a smart idea to upgrade to 3600mhz for future gaming in 5 years or so? Or do you not think this would make a difference. I am using an Intel processor.

Solution
Not worth it for the small performance right now especially on an Intel. Its pointless to speculate what things will be like in 5 years so dont trouble your self with "future proofing". By then RAM speeds may commonly be in the 4 or 5ghz range or we may be using DDR5.

6 years ago I was running 1333MHz DDR3 RAM. Now im at 3200MHz DDR4, more than double the speed and a new architecture.
Unless you somehow manage to run in the ballpark of 6GHz you are just wasting your time.

Technology is going to keep on getting better, faster, and cheaper than current hardware for the same performance. There is no reason to plan anywhere that far into the future.
