I live in India and the we have 4 to 5 power cuts every day.So which cheap ups would you suggest for a corsair vs550 PSU? I don't need a long back up time as I have a backup power supply for my entire home .But it takes a few seconds to kick in and in this duration the computer would turn off.

yep. 650va is enough even with monitor and got plenty of time to save and shutdown normally. but please at least buy a UPS with good track record (like apc or eaton). most cheap brands overestimate their va cap.
to calculate UPS capacity you'll need to estimate the peak load that your system will use not the max power your PSU can produce since the typical power usage of PC is usually lower than the PSU wattage. so, im taking a rough guess that you uses 1 processor, 1 mid to high vga, 3hdds, and 1monitor. the peak is probably 400watt. so you'll need somewhere around 650va UPS. if you use too low va your UPS might not be able to cope with the sudden surge of wattage on initial power switch.

tl;dr Try to get a 650va UPS from a good name brand.

Specs of my PC :
Asrock h97m pro4
i5 4590
Gainward geforce gtx 970
WD 1tb sata
Kingston fury hyperx 8gb
Lg DVD drive
Corsair vs550

An online power supply calculator shows a suggested wattage of 380 watts.
