ideas for a budget single core gpu graphics card with lots of memory?

Hi,

I'm looking for a graphics card to run Lumion 3d as well as a few other applications. I need one with a single core GPU but with as much memory as possible. Also Nvidia rather than Radeon for compatibility issues.

What do you think of the Gigabyte GTX 660 3gb?

I've looked through a few specification pages but I can't tell whether it's a single core GPU?

Price is kind of important too although the good news is that work is paying for it!

Why not a GTX 970 with 4gb ram then? A 660 is a decent card but its 2 generations old already.
