More or less I'm trying to retouch my old resume(more accurately I'm starting over) to hand out to local repair shops in the area. I've over the last two years have tried to keep my head above water while running my own PC Repair business. While it went alright for a while it became evident over the last three months or so that the good times had passed and I could no longer sustain my living situation while taking smaller and smaller personal pay days. I've crunched the numbers to the point that I could effectively remain open for another few months at the pace I've experienced over the last four months. But that'll come at a moderate cost to me. Living on ramen and somen 3-4 days out of the week has reached it's zenith of irritation with me lol.

Anyway, I'm now 25 years old. I have no degrees or certifications at the moment(I know, I'm one of those types of morons.) I do plan to get an A+ and Network+ certification over the next couple months when funds arise for the test itself. Or at least the A+ which after reading a prep book front to back twice, I'm 101% positive I'd have absolutely no issue with. The network cert I've heard is a little tougher to pass, so I'm gonna make sure I'm more than prepared before I make preparations to take the test.

ANYWAY, my resume reads much like the following.

Name, Location, Phone, Email etc

Objective:
Details one what I'm looking to do with life/work

Computer Skills:
Hardware(with various descriptions)
Software(with various descriptions)

Relevant Experience:
Furniture Repair Shop(detailed showing why I thought it was mildly relevant)
Self Employment(trying to convey my overall experience/skill set)

Education:
High School Name and Year

I'll be sending this style of resume in tow with a cover letter to various repair shops(roughly eight) in my general area. The letter which I've been urged by a college professor to make no more than half a page(thoughts on that length?) as it promotes the idea of actually reading it. Hoping to aptly convey my passion for computer hardware and my willingness to grow with a repair company. It's really all I've ever wanted to do since I was about fifteen.

I would include in "Experience" section the fact that you've ran your own repair shop. Moreover, there is a good chance the shops you will apply to will already know that you used to be in that business. You should clearly state that you plan to close it as soon as you get a position.
