Hello guys,

Just putting my pc together
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Yess13/saved/gLMwrH

I just started up my pc and in my bios the CPU temperature is 60C. I think this is a bit high for an idle system.
I was thinking to order a CPU cooler, but that is only a last resort. First i wanne check with you guys if you have any tips? things i may check which i might have forgot or which i should re-check? Or maybe this is normal for a first start up..? I never done this before so i really dont know. Any help on this is appriciated :)

Oh and one more question:
How high should i set the manual fan in the bios? Or does it depend on the CPU temp?

Solution

UEFI BIOS temps are not the same as idle temps, quite the opposite - they are generally closer to load temps than idle temps.

Personally I like to set the fan speed low, with a target temperature of about 50 degrees.

Ah oke thanx for your fast answer!
So i should check my temperature again when i installed windows? I really don't know what is high or what isnt, but from your answer i take that 60 is not alarming in this fase and the temp might drop after installing?
I know it is set at a safety limit of 75C

Alarming? No. For a stock cooler on a 760k I would expect it to be maybe a few degrees lower, but not much.

If you're satisfied that the heatsink is correctly mounted and you've used the right amount of thermal paste then go ahead and install windows. I would expect much lower temperatures outside of BIOS as windows has power saving features that the BIOS does not.
