I've seen a few posts about this already, however they all result in "change power saving settings", which has not solved my problem unfortunately.

After a short period of time, if there is very little change in what the computer is displaying it will freeze, requiring a hard reset. I first thought it to be an issue with the computer being left idle in general, however I am certain it is related to the display itself being idle.

If I want to leave my pc without it freezing, I can play a long youtube video and come back to it without any issues, however if I were to leave it on desktop or for example the Fallout 4 pause menu, or the StarCraft 2 menu screen (which has very little movement in the display) it will freeze after a few minutes.

If there's any more info I can give please let me know.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- Start by running Windows Update, install all updates available.
- Next to make sure Power Option settings are set accordingly.
- In Power Option click on Change Plan Settings on the power plan selected.
- Click on Change advanced power settings.
- Set Turn off hard disk after to Never under Hard disk.
- Expand sleep, Set Allow hybrid sleep to OFF and Hibernate after to Never.
- Click Apply and OK then test it again.
- If all these will not work your laptop option would be to reinstall Windows 10.
