My desktop with Vista premium installed only idles with 850+Mb usage of RAM (4gb total), while my toshiba laptop with with Vista basic idles around 1.3GB RAM (2g total)

I customized both of their startups using programs such as Uniblue2009 but the RAM usage between Vista premium & basic is that much, I thought Vista premium would uses more RAM.. anybody have a good reason for this? the programs installed on both of them are quite similar - I used my PC for gaming/video and studies/work on my laptop.

Its called PREFETCH or in other words Vista already has loaded programs that you use the most in the background its nothing to worry about!

You can disable this but its up to you if you need to.
