Hey Ladies and Gentlemen!
Happy Halloween if you're into that stuff. I was hoping you could help me with a question. I'm using Driver Identifier (Which Im not 100% sure of as is) and its saying that theres an update for my IDT. But when I download the driver and begin the install it says:

DEVICES SUPPORTED:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_76E0="IDT High Definition Audio CODEC"

My Hardware Id is:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7605&SUBSYS_103C169B&REV_1001
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7605&SUBSYS_103C169B
Compatable Ids:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&CTLR_VEN_1022&CTLR_DEV_780D&VEN_111D&DEV_7605&REV_1001
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&CTLR_VEN_1022&VEN_111D&DEV_7605&REV_1001
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7605&REV_1001
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&CTLR_VEN_1022&CTLR_DEV_780D&VEN_111D&DEV_7605
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&CTLR_VEN_1022&VEN_111D&DEV_7605
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7605
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&CTLR_VEN_1022&CTLR_DEV_780D&VEN_111D
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&CTLR_VEN_1022&VEN_111D
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&CTLR_VEN_1022&CTLR_DEV_780D
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&CTLR_VEN_1022
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&GF&VEN_111D&DEV_7605&SUBSYS_103C169B&REV_1001
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01

I dont see any match in there. So my question is.. Is it still compatable or is this no good for me?
I formatted today due to slow computer / High DPC Lat and sound Issues so im not in a hurry to make more. Driver Identifier has giving me mostly "Close to it" drivers for several devices and im not sure on the need for exact or close for those either. Thanks in advance!

To be honest, I think that what I would do is, given the you have identified the 'up-datable' driver, I would track it down myself, download and install it.

IDT High Definition Audio CODEC drivers are what you want so why not go to -

http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=idt+high+definition+audio+codec+windows+7&searchtype=downloads

A little further down that page you will see this -

Pick the one that suits your operating system, 32- or 64-bit and you're away.

Then I would let the Driver Identifier rescan my system and if it can improve on it, then I would give it a shot.

Ok.. Well Driver Identifier actually gives links to download the file so that isnt a problem. I just didnt know if a driver thats "Close" to the one i need would do something like run my sound and make me think everything is fine but all the while something is not right and making my game slow, racking up my DPC etc.. but I'll giver a shot and see what happens. Thanks.

Alrighty..... Point... Moot. Every driver that I get from Driver Ident. throws an error.. Windows cant verify blah blah.. I tried the sound one anyway and it didnt work. =( Back to sitting here with old drivers on this Pavillion g6 because HP doesnt give a you know wut about us after they've got our money.
