IE 5 Won't Link

I recently (around 1/23) used Windows Update to get the latest bug fixes, er, security patch. After that, IE 5 will no longer recognize mouse clicks on linked icons. As an example, in AOL Mail clicking on the Reply icon only displays the url in the taskbar. No action. The same holds true for my DSL/ISP login screen. Any suggestions?

you have AOL installed? since AOL overwrites IE upon isntallation..if it is winme..run system restore(if you did not turn it off)...otherwise short of a format try reinstalling IE...

First, I used AOL Mail ONLY as an example so anyone wanting to try to duplicate the error could go there. The error occurs at http://bb.zoomtown.com, www.53.com, and a few other sites. I've loaded IE 5.5 SP1. Still the same problem.

trt the microsoft support Q194177 for the Iexplorer repair tool and instructions. It worked for me Good luck.
