IE does not retain printer margin settings

I've spent ages trawling for an answer to this problem. I found a few
messages from people having the same problem, but no answer as yet! Any help
much appreciated:

Using XP Pro, SP2, I've got the standard HP Laserjet 4 driver installed. [I
tried updating it with the files from lj631.exe but it failed].

Problem is, that when I print from within IE, try as I might to change the
default margins from 0mm to something else, like 10mm, they always
immediately reset to zero which means that all my print outs from IE have
their edges cut off. It only works once if I do it via print preview.

The margins don't appear as config options in the main Printer preferences
pane. Is there a way to set the defaults to something other than 0mm?

I've tried changing them in the registry, but it doesn't get picked up by
IE.

Thanks very much!

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. On the File menu, click Page Setup.
3. In the Margins boxes, type the margin measurements in mm.

This is the US English version so the instructions use inches instead of mm.

To change how a Web page looks when it prints
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/pageset.mspx

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\PageSetup
margin_bottom
margin_left
margin_right
margin_top

I have tried to change the settings via page setup, but it always
immediately resets itself to zero margins top,left.right.bottom. I have also
tried editing the registry directly, where the original values were not even
zero anyway! So there was no chance my edits would end up on the margin
entries of the page setup form, and guess what, they didn't.

I am still no nearer figuring out why it won't let me change the margins, or
why the new print driver fails to install (assuming that that might stand a
better chance with the margins problem!)

Any further help much appreciated!
