IE Problems. HELP

HELP.

All of a sudden I cannot connect to the internet. I was online this morning. Took a shower and went to get on. My IE Closes on me with an Error as soon as I click on any webpage. My outlook express is similar. It won't connect to my mail server, and when I click on STOP, it doesn't stop trying to find it. It reminds me every minute. I have to ctrl alt del in order to cancel out of outlook express.

My internet connect is fine. I am using my laptop on it now.

Could it be the Network card? Maybe I need to reinstall Windows? Maybe there is simple way to fix it. I am great with computers, but before I give up and reformat I wanted to ask you all

If you were on the internet earlier, win 98se has a scanreg /restore option which, in dos, will allow you to access the registry. Boot the pc to dos using the boot disk, type C:, press enter, then CD (space ) windows, then press enter, the CD (space ) command, then press enter, then type scanreg /restore and choos the best date the pc worked, press enter and let the pc reboot.

Thought I responded to this lastnight. Thanks a ton for your help. It worked great. All though a I get a newdot.dll or some type of error on boot up. That would be my fault because I removed a few things thinking it was messing up the computer so the restore probably put it back or put back the relationship to it.

Thanks again you saved me hours of reinstall. I wonder how it became corrupted in the first place.
