Question IEEE-1394 adapter

I have an older film negative scanner (8 yrs old) that uses a IEEE-1394 data cable. Haven' t used it in years but now have the chance to scan long lost film negatives. Problem is my desktop hasn't got any such connection anymore.
Can anyone tell me if any of the IEEE-1394 6-pin to USB adapters available online would be sufficient ? Any other alternatives? TIA

Can you please mention the make and model of your scanner? I see adapters using Google's image and regular search. Oddly enough I was asking myself who uses firewire these days when I was packing away my Maximus II Formula and Rampage Extreme(X48) boards.

You'll need an actual IEEE-1394 controller. You can't simply use an adapter. Although most (though not all) scanners of that vintage that had IEEE-1394 ports also had USB support as well.
