If a compnay that created their own game used mac address filtering would it portect players from hackers?

Would mac address filtering prevent hacking and other forms of unathroised access on a created game?

As far as I'm aware the game servers would never see your Mac address only your IP address as the connection isn't direct from your modem to the servers it passes through your local wan server then is passed through other servers untill it reaches the game server (bit like Chinese whispers)
