If an installation from a disk fails. Do the files get automatically deleted?

hi. i tried reinstalling an old game through the disk and the installer froze. so i task managered and ended it as i couldn't exit it. The install path contains no files or folders. so does this mean that because the installing failed the files and folders are deleted and the space marked available for overwrite?

Its possible the installer failed before it actually created any files/ on the PC. Any space not used would be marked free for overwrite.
