So I built a new PC and don’t have a key handy, I really hate the activate windows thing in the corner so I removed it via registry, if I activate windows will that cause a problem? And if it does what can I do to prevent that?

You can't "activate" Windows without a valid license key OR a previously activated Windows 7 or 8 installation registered to YOU via Microsoft account, that is not still being used on another system.

If you have a valid Windows key and activate, then of course it won't cause any problems.

If you don't have one, or don't have a previous activated Windows 7 or 8 license to use for this purpose, then you can't "activate" anyhow. It will simply fail activation.

Are you looking for a way to get around the Windows licensing protocol? Is that what we are trying to do here?
No I mean I did remove the watermark via registry but I am going to buy a legit key from Microsoft

Am I not allowed to do that cause if so I will undo it
