If I buy my own modem will I still have to pay for internet

Ok so I was wondering if I buy my own modem lets say the https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/RTAC87U/
Will I have to still to pay for internet and not the rental fee or will the modem just get its own internet and if I have to buy internet do one of these work with xfinity

They will just deduct the rental fee , that's all.

You will still have to pay for Internet service. If you stay with XFinity, what you will likely see on your monthly bill is an equipment charge and then an added line item which states something like "Own Equipment" which will deduct the modem rental fee.

Yep, most cable modems pay for themselves in about one year. They make a fortune off those charges.
