If I change my MOBO, what happens to windows / my files?

Hey guys I'm pretty sure many have asked this question before, but it is 2017bso things might be different. My questions is if I upgrade my current motherboard and cpu can I still use the same harddrive and will I have all my files there? What to do. Before I switch or what to know? Help.
- don't know which motherboard yet
- no windows CD
- have windows / Microsoft acc

please dont make more then one thread...mods dont like it. for your file use a usb stick back them up. or also move them to cloud storage. if you drop or fry your hard drive you lose all your files. with a new mb your better off reloading windows fresh. use the windows media creation tool to make a bootable usb stick.
