If I change win 10 search engine to google chrome but it still uses edge browser?

So, I hate Edge Browser and I want to change it so when I search from the start menu it takes me to google chrome instead of Edge Browser. When I try to change it (settings - default browser) to google chrome it says it has been changed but when I search in the start menu it still takes me to Edge Browser.
What can I do to prevent this nightmare?

TL;DR It says I changed it to google chrome but it wont use google chrome.

That's not my issue, what's wrong is when I search in the start menu in windows it wont use Google Chrome at all it just uses Edge Browser. All I'm asking is why windows won't direct too the Google Chrome browser.
