DO NOT BUY an MSI 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition, you will regret it every step of the way after. Sure all these review sites all give it thumbs up, but thats because they just test performance and not overall use, because if they did then there would be problems problems problems. Where to begin?

I purchased this board based on this sites editors choice recommendation, and performance wise it is a good board. So when did the problems start? They started day one. I couldn't even get the system to boot because of the ram (OCZ) was defective and would not boot. Ok, that was not MSI's fault. So I exchanged the ram and everything started great. The next problem is with MSI's choice and configuration of their HD Audio. The microphone will not work after talking with support back and forth from both Realtek and MSI. The Line-In randomly works and stops working. The mic not working is a large problem too as if you google it you will see there are many people with this problem. Then, on the day of the boards 2 month point, all USB ports die. Thats just great, I cant even connect and sync my iPod. MSI wants me to RMA my board just 2 months after use. The board used to restart properly, then all of a sudden when I restart it just hangs and I have to turn it off and on to get back up. I just bought it and now I have to RMA it. What I can tell you is that I will never buy an MSI product again, and I advise you to do the same because you will experience more problems than with other manufacturers. So if a microphone or USB, or who else knows what will go wrong next is important to you. Then weigh your options and get a different board.

Problems like what you describe happens with other mobo manufacturers like Asus, Gigabyte, and DFI.

Browse around, you'll find similar complaints.

You can get a lemon in any product line on the planet, what really matters is the companies customer service and how many lemons in a row you get, maybe you should try ASUS. :lol:

I have had one ASUS board i have RMA'd 3 times.
service is good...
never had problems with other asus boards to the same extent...

bad things happen...
how does your new MSI rma'd board now work for you?
