[SOLVED] If i have a Cryorig QF120 Performance fan hooked up with a molex adaptor am i still able to control the fan speed cause it is very loud.

If i have a Cryorig QF120 Performance fan hooked up with a molex adapter am i still able to control the fan speed cause it is very loud. the fan is a 4 pin connection but i dont have that on my mother board cause it is old. i have it hooked by a molex, will i be able to control the speed and how???????? thank you

If your motherboard has a 3pin you can use that with the 4pin fan. If your motherboard is so old it has no fan headers at all other than the cpu_fan, you'll need outside help in the form of a fan controller. These are usually 5.25" so fit directly where the optical drives are.

Noise is directly proportional to speed, so if just leaving the fan at full speed, it'd be just as easy to replace the fan with one that only spins 1000-1200rpm, gets similar airflow but a lot quieter. Noctua and beQuiet would be good replacements.
