[SOLVED] If I make a partition on my SSD, will the rest of the SSD not be wiped?

I’m going to install windows onto my SSD tomorrow, which already has files on it. My question is, if I make a 40gb partition for Windows, but keep the files in the other partition, then select the 40gb partition to install Windows on, will it wipe the whole drive (deleting the files) or only the partition selected (Keeping the files in the other partition). Thanks for your help :)

40GB is far too small for a Windows install. Well, anything Win 7 or later.
Will it install? Yes. Will you be able to actually use the system? Not really.

I don't even recommend a 120GB at all, even if you use the whole drive.

And for your partitioning thought? Any time you mess with partitions like that, you really really need a full backup of all the data on that drive. Mistakes and accidents happen.
And if you have that, just install using the whole drive, and copy the data back later.
