If I plug hdmi splitter with both input and output ports l, can I receive video signal on my pc?

I wanna watch my cable tv on my laptop but it's not that easy as it seems. But I was wondering if I use hdmi splitter that has both out and in ports maybe I could do it cause my tv box provided by the cable company got a hdmi port which connects my tv to itself. But sometimes I cant watch my tv and dont ask why. Please answer this folks.
