If I set SATA to IDE in BIOS, what differences are there between the SATAII & SATAIII connections?

Hello,

I have a modern Gigabyte motherboard with both SATAII and SATAIII connections on it.

In BIOS I set SATA to IDE.

Can anyone explain to me what the differences there will be (if any) between the SATAII and SATAIII connections on the motherboard?

WIll the speeds of both the SATAII and SATAIII connections now be the same and equal to IDE speeds?

Please do not tell me "you do not want to do this". I am just curious!

Thanks!

So if I choose IDE in BIOS the SATA II connections will still be 3.0Gb/s and the SATA III connections will still be 6.0Gb/s?
