If I think random shutdowns are a hardware problem, where do I start?

My notebook has been shutting down randomly. I reinstalled the OS but the random shutdowns continue. How do I start diagnosing/fixing the issue?

CPU and GPU around 50c and max out around 85c. I don't know how to provide fan speed. No error messages it just turns off suddenly. It often happens during light use like emails, word processing, etc.

Hmmmm. It could be a battery problem among other things. To test to see if it's your battery, I would take the battery out and just power the laptop with the charger. If the laptop stays on and runs normal using just the charger as power. I'd say it's safe to say your battery is the culprit. Also, it would be great to clean out the inside of the notebook and make sure nothing is hitting against anything else.
