I want to buy a hdd for my next build and use it on this computer. But I have a virus that wrecked my chrome so I can't use chrome which is a little annoying. Can't stomp the thing.
anyway should I not risk it and just make due with the 1tb i have now?

Solution
When you install on the SSD in the new PC, do it with ONLY the SSD (or whatever target drive) connected.
This applies for all Windows installs, not just something with a virus.

So, for that virused up HDD - I'd suggest creating a DBAN boot disk.
Boot from that, and wipe that HDD completely.
After that, use it as you wish.

Clean install of the OS.
Delete ALL existing partitions when you go through the process.
Let Windows install to the whole space, creating what it needs.

Im installing windows onto an ssd on my next build. If the hard drive is plugged in and I select deleat existing partitions thatll clean the hdd even if im installing onto the ssd? Ur saying I don't need to format the hdd before I put it in my next build?
I'm fine with viruses on this computer.
