[SOLVED] If i were to "accidentally" break the pci-e retention clip, could i have the fans facing upward?

I wanna spend around $450 on a build and decided that I should get a office computer and upgrade psu and gpu, problem is that the top slot is x1 not x16 and below it there is no space. Therein lies the question "If i were to "accidentally" break the pci-e retention clip, could i have the fans facing upward?"

You can't insert it upside down. It won't fit in the slot. You can however get a pcie riser then mount the gpu anywhere the cable can reach.
