[SOLVED] If my CPU can only support up to 2133 MHz RAM speeds, is there any reason to upgrade to 2400MHz ram?

I've got a dell Optiplex 7050 MT with an Intel Core i5-6500. I'm planning on upgrading my ram from 8Gb to 16Gb. The current ram in the computer is 2x4Gb 2400MHz DDR4 Memory. But the CPU can only support speeds up to 2133MHz. When I buy the new RAM, is there any reason to buy 2x8Gb 2400MHz RAM or can I save some cash and just get 2x8Gb 2133MHz RAM?

The price difference, if there even is one, would be almost nothing. There is no reason not to buy faster ram, because you might want to reuse it in the future for a new system. Infact you would probably be better off buying DDR4 3000 or 3200 for a bit more money just for that purpose. The ram will still be restricted to 2133 as a limitation of the i5-6500 and motherboard, but it will...

There is nothing you can do at this point that would give you large gains because you are restricted. maybe you can get a used 6700 that would give you a noticeable jump in performance. The ram wont give you anything unless you have a single stick and want to add more ram for example 1 stick 8gbs and you wanted to run in duel channel.
