If my motherboard if fried, will my cpu be okay?

My psu blew a capacitor so I RMA'd it and plugged the replacement in. The motherboard didn't beep on start up and I got no signal to my monitor. I tried resetting the ram and removing the video card. So I'm thinking the board is fried. But if it is, would my cpu be okay? I'm thinking about buying the same motherboard that I had and using the old cpu. Will that work? Or would I be better off replacing both?

Depends on the motherboard. Some of them, the majority these days, have features to protect components in case of a short-circuit or a surge. If you have an electronic store not too far, you could always ask them if they can test your CPU on one of their boards, so you'll know beforehand. I would also recommend that you check your broken PSU's warranty conditions, as it may cover the damage it did on your components.
