[SOLVED] If my motherboard says it supports M.2 PCIe, does that include PCIe 4.0 ?

Hi all, I've recently been looking for a M.2 SSD to buy to upgrade from my old hard drive storage solution. I found a SSD on Amazon that is in my price range and has good reviews. I checked my motherboard manual for compatibility and it says "The M.2 port supports either M.2 SATA 6GB/s module or M.2 PCIe module." does this mean that it supports any type of PCIe e.g. PCIe 4.0 (which is what the M.2 SSD I want to buy is) or does it only support PCIe 1

motherboard spec sheet says:

PCI-E Gen Gen 3

The manual may or may not confirm that.

If the M.2 port is gen 3, your gen 4 drive would run at gen 3 speeds.

X99 does not support PCIE 4.0, B560 is the least chipset to support it. Your Mobo does support PCIE 3.0 x4 for the m.2 slots (typical Nvme ssds).

I mean, actual gen5 hardware is still years away from becoming mainstream. Sure a few mobos have gen5 slots but we don't have any gen5 devices. IMO gen4 still hasn't even become mainstream over gen3.
