can I have an ATX PSU combined with a mini ITX motherboard? Or do I also need an itx psu?

If it fits in the case and has the necessary power connectors for your components, the power supply form factor does not matter.

Yes they are typically fully compatible with ATX PSU's and use the same 24 pin power connector. If it's the board in your signature then yes. Obviously you'd need larger than an iTX case but I assume you already have that.
