If you guys had $900us, and all you need to buy was mobo, ram, and cpu, what would you build (for a gaming rig)and could you possibly provide links to the best and hopefully cheapest places to buy this at? I already have a SATA hard drive, 6800gt, case w/psu and a DL dvd-rw. It's SOOOOO hard to decide :(

Spitfire_x86 suggestion is great, go for that, about the best choice you could make. Should be awesome!

Thats a good setup spitfire, but I have had a bad experience with MSI mobo's, have you personally had good experiences with them?

I'd go with Crucial Ballistix. W00Terific SERIOUSLY fast RAM.

I had one MSI mobo (MSI K7N420 Pro) that died after 15 months. One of my friends had the same mobo which died after 18 months. But they worked flawlessly when they worked.

I don't have any experience with MSI Athlon64 mobos. But since they are most popular, then they should be good

What about the Geil PC3200 Ultra X? I've read this is the most aggressive timed memory and thusly the highest preforming. Don't let the 3200 fool you. It will easilly clock in the 550+ range.

I believe I will pick me up some soon.

Dichromatic for your viewing plesure...

The only OCZ I've had was Samsung PC800-40 they relabled/reprogramed as PC1066. Of course it overheated in most enclosures.

I don't have any OCZ DDR to compare it to, but I can tell you that my Ballistix came through their store (ie, not specially prepared modules), it was PC4000 programed at 2.5-3-3-8, and it ran lower speeds at much faster timings, like DDR433 at 2-2-2-5.
