If you had a choice for gaming and streaming I'm always listening to music and on discord while playing.

The choices are... I5 7600k. I7 6700k. I7 7700k. Ryzen 1700x. Ryzen 1800x and ryzen 2600.

What choice and why?
Thanks

Solution
In short:

- i5 is out of the question because it lacks threads for streaming
- all i7s you mentioned are several generations old, although very capable for gaming
- ryzen 1700x and 1800x are 1st gen and have slower cores than 2nd gen for gaming (also overkill for streaming)

So, that leaves Ryzen 2600 as the best choice overall.
I would go for the ryzen 5 2600 it is great for streaming and decent for gaming its worse then the i7 7700k in gaming but for multitasking it will definatly outperform also you get alot of power for the price it is alot cheaper then the i7 7700k but if were you i would just get the ryzen 7 2700x if you have the money to buy an i7 7700k

the only problem is I have a z270 motherboard right now. so I could grab a i7 7700k and just toss it in the machine. The AMD cpu's are so cheap or compared they are quite alot cheaper. So I can buy a new motherboard thats AMD4 for a good price not a cheapy one but mid range with a 2600 or 1700x or 1800x. I do alot of gaming but streaming I do also. I dont do any movie editing just file movements nothing for rendering normally. Why would you choose the ryzen 5 2600 I might be able to afford the 2600x if that would be better. Right now im using a i5 7600k and even overclocked to 4.9Ghz it reaches 100% usage the whole time on battlefield V. So aslong as its better than an i5 7600k and closer to the 7700k then Thats what I'm really after.

Would you choose 2600 or the 2600x??

I would love to overclock as the base/stock variant clock speed is alright and I can boost gaming performance for just £40

I’d get a Ryzen 2700. The 7700k is still a great chip for gaming but it’s not going to be great for streaming.

If you only want to get one of the ones you’ve mentioned I’d get the 2600 depending on the quantity of stream you’re going for.

Unless you find a really cheap 1800x I don’t think the performance improvement is worth the extra cost.
