if you have internet, does an additional server need to be set up?

this is something that has puzzled me quite profoundly.
only someone with network administrator knowledge would know this.

i am baffled as all will be.

if you have internet connection, do you NEED to set up an additional server?

Overall, no. Servers generally a purpose, such as web hosting, massive data storage, email hosting, things you wouldn't do on your own PC. What are you trying to accomplish?

no, who told you that, on what basis? I'm sure not all are baffled because there are a billion internet users who haven't set up servers. The reason for the question is baffling!

i too, like w95 -- too bad it is not supported anymore, it was so much faster, more compact, and took up so much less space and ram resources!!

somehow this "server" -- though it may be a "browser" or "IRC client" -- APPEARED either by itself, or, someone said that it may have "appeared" from having installed a program. however, i have installed hundreds of games over a course of years (not on this hd), and NONE of them have installed a "server" ,"browser", or "IRC client".

i am trying to remove it. and am wondering if it is dangerous/threat. and that if i remove it, if i might be at risk in the future since it has already happened; like from a hcker, if that is how it got there.

no one told me that -- this is what has happened to me. i am trying to figure out how it happened, and if it is "suspicious".
