Anyone know how I get this game to work? I'm using Windows XP and have the
NET software installed on my machine yet the game isn't even playable. I
just a few lines of text (sometimes meaningless) and the keyboard only types
a few of the letters I enter.

Odd, because I have XP and .net also, and it works fine for me. Hmmm.
I don't know what else you have running at the time, but have you tried
unloading it, whatever it is? Possibly this is causing a conflict.

I tried shutting the computer off and restarting but it didn't make a
difference. I don't have anything else running in the background aside from
the usual list you get when you bring up Task Manager and none of them have
ever caused problems before.

I'm not sure exactly what's going on -- I tested it on an XP computer
with the NET components installed. Your best bet is going to be to
contact the author and talk to him about it.

Did you check if you had .NET framework 1.1 installed? Try installing
1.1 if your version's lower. That may work.
