Some players have been unable to view the chinese flavour text in the
game:
I made the (incorrect) assumption that it [simsun] was one of the fonts
installed by internet explorer on windows platforms by default. Alas, that
was not to be - so I've uploaded a copy of the font to some webspace for
the time being.
Almost any chinese font should work, but the latin alphabet doesn't always
appear very readable. It's approximately 5.5mb, so it's really only worth
downloading if you're absolutely desperate to see the characters (they're
also in relevant places on the map as well).

Just so you know, it's only installed if you have Far East Windows
(in Windows 95/98/Me) or the Far East Language Pack. So basically, unless
you're Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or a Oriental Culture nut (like me and,
it would seem, you). The guy I bought my computer from said he had never
known anyone to want the Far East Language Pack before me.

Also, someone suggested pinyin. Of course, you don't want to go and
rewrite your whole game in pinyin (as a reader of Hangeul, I know how
ugly transliteration seems to people who know the native writing system).
But you could do it automatically with the Unihan database (apparently
it contains Mandarin pronunciations).

Yeah, I thought that must have been the case - I'd never needed them until I
installed the pack, so wasn't aware of their non-existence before that.

A few of my testers suggested the pinyin as an option, so it got added late
in the day (but is in the comp version) - so people can opt for pinyin with
tone numbers and/or hanzi.
