Im 15 and looking to buy a desktop. budget : $800

I am 15 years old and have been using an asus republic of gamers laptop for about four years. I am looking to upgrade because i am tired of having to run on poor quality in newer games. So what i was thinking is that i could build one. But my parents know nothing about specs and computers and i dont really know that much either. So would it be better to buy? If so please provide a link to some websites. Thanks for your help.
