Im a little confused

What is the difference between PCI Express x16 and PCI Express 2.0 x16.

The only reason im confused is because on motherboards ive never seen the 2.0 one but with video cards i have seen with and without teh 2.0. So IDK if that would affect if the video card works with teh motherboard if its not relevant at all. Thanks.

Also sorry if this is wrong section and if I sound really noob. Im just a little new to this stuff.

PCIE2.0 provides double bandwidth. Just consider PCIE2.0 x16 as PCIE x32. Those aren't useful yet though, as graphics cards aren't powerful to saturate the bandwidth.

Yes, it's backward compatible.
