I built this PC during the Summer. I'm in school, so I decided not to put in a Graphics Card.

Gonna try to sell it on Craigslist, here in Lubbock, TX.

$1,000 would be nice.

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that for most used items. The largest part of the depreciation occurs during the first months of ownership in almost every scenarios. Just think about a brand new car, even if you had it for only one week and the mileage is still very low if you try to sell it you already lost 30% of the value no matter what you do. For instance, if you try to sell your PC next year, you'd probably get almost the same price as you do today (or maybe loose an additional 50$ or 100$ but the difference wouldn't be that much because it already suffered a great deal of depreciation during the first months). Same thing with a car, there's not much difference in price between a 3-year old or a 4-year old car given the mileage is similar, or maybe a 500$ or 1000$ difference at most. But between a brand new car and a 6-month old car the difference can be 5000$ or even greater depending on the initial value. Anyways, these are just examples but you get the idea. PCs are pretty much the same except everything is evolving faster so does the depreciation.

By the way wanting to sell the PC 1000$ and try to rip someone off isn't really nice. Hope nobody is crazy enough to give you that much. You say 6 months doesn't make much difference but some parts are covered by the warranty for only 1 year and you're already 50% through. And I don't like the idea of something being used by someone else than me before, you never know what they did with the stuff or if they're hiding a defect or misuse. This is why you have to drop the price more aggressively when you want to sell something used. It would make more sense to keep the computer because you're loosing too much, or maybe keep it for 1-year and try to sell it at the same price in 1-year, but if you absolutely need to money now what can you do?

Well you might be able to donate it and asking for a $1000 tax deduction, you need to talk to your tax guy. There is no way any one with common sense would pay more then $300 for it. The value on used parts drops very rapidly. The long you have it and use is the less it's worth, and there are companies selling refirb systems very cheap.
