Im building a gaming computer and i'm open for suggestions

I'm building a decent gaming computer. it doesn't have to play things on max settings i just want steady/high fps and a reliable computer so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks


i found a motherboard here - should i get a z68? my friend said it doesn't really matter just focus on the graphics card but i don't know.. it might come with the cpu so that's why i might get that one and if i want to add stuff i'll get a z68? i guess.

i like it and i'm not going to go out of my way to get a 3.0 graphics card since if this one doesn't sustain the games i want to play then i could easily sli them.


if you can tell me if they're compatible that would be awesome. i can't spend too much so please help me find a cost effective way to get a decent gaming computer. it's my first build so i'm nervous D:

RMA'ing is having to return the board under warranty, usually because of some kind of inherent fault. Boot loop is where the PC won't start because it just resets itself every time you get to a certain point. No motherboard should do that, if it does you can just return it for a new one.

That all looks OK, I'd get a WD, Seagate or Samsung hard drive though. I know a lot of people who have had problems with Hitachi. The deskstars are actually nicknamed deathstars sometimes because of the relatively high fail rates. They might have some modern revisions that have improved but I'm not sure.

Couple of comments.

I would recommend the new FX4300 over the older aging FX4100. Its quicker and much more worth it.

Also, the Radeon HD7850 is quicker than the 560Ti and much cheaper. You can even go with the Radeon HD7870, which is a monster at that price.

You should realize that I am getting the 4100 with a motherboard (well i'm not certain). If I am not able to get it for free with the 4100 I will invest into the 4300. As for the 7870 or 7850, they're 3.0 and the free motherboard i hope to get will be 2.0. I guess I would want to get a decent graphics card to support my computer and not slow it down though.. If i don't get the motherboard for free I might as well spend a few more bucks just to get a 3.0 motherboard for a better graphics card. I don't know I'll see.
