hey if you dont know what type of ram you are putting in your computer then how do you know if you have a pci express slot or agp slot? Or do you know? You need to find out before you buy this stuff. If your computer is too old for upgrading then you cant use any of these parts that you want to buy.
Wow your the ONLY person who noticed the title!
im computer illiterate, please help me!
Thank you! and yes i have a pci-e slot, about a month ago i started looking into this stuff, and the people here helped me out and told me everything i didnt know about my computer.
my question is, ignoring the price difference, which is the better card...somebody said something about a copper heat sink...but i dont know what he ment by it :?

Also.... i need a new psu, all of the combo deals have 500w+ psu's, and i dont think i need that much. my current psu is 300w. The minimum requirment is 350w for the 7600gt, and i also want to get a gig of ram, so i imagine that would take more power..so i was thinking a 400w psu would be great incase i ever decide to add something else to my computer. What do u guys recemend....
And that leads my to my Last question ( sorry for having them all in here, i know they dont belong in the graphics thread ) how do i tell which RAM memory my computer can use...the sticker on the front of my computer says:
250 GB SATA HDD 7200 RPM with 8 MB cache
1024 MB DDR dual channel memory
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 540
supporting hyper-threading technology
processor speed 3.20 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache
...my harddrive failed and i got a new one from gateway, so i dont have any of the stuff i had before. Before i had a text file that had all of my computer info on it...some guy from here told me to go to a sight and download something and it listed all my specs...but i dont have that anymore.
If you need it i can find my computer model on gateway.com and it should list anything u need to know there...
Thank you for putting up with me!!! You guys have been a great help!
