My first go to is samsung evo
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz75e500bam

I was reading some reviews on mushkin which is much cheaper and a little slower. Though people keep saying theirs failed after a little while. So are the samsungs more reliable and faster?

Is the slight speed difference worth the extra cost over say the mushkin?
Im using it for my os and software so I don't want it to fail on me.

I have Samsung 850 Evo 500GB version. I've had it for like 4 months and it runs like a champ. If you're new to ssd's never and I mean never defrag a ssd. That's the fastest way to kill a ssd.

Hey,

I have a 240gb Samsung 840 evo and just recently purchased a 500gb 850 evo.

Samsung's evo line is amongst the cheapest drives that offer top level performance. They have great reliability, and Samsung is a huge company and offers great support.

Besides the performance difference the main reason I would go Samsung over Mushkin is there software suite. Their drive cloning tool is helpful to get up and running and the Magician software is a great way to track your drives health and optimize your OS for performance and drive longevity.
