So I built my own computer about two months ago (first build), and I have this error message occur around 2-4 times per week. This only happens when I shut down my computer, it never shuts down on it's own. The system appears to be shutting down normally, I can hear the fans slow down, and then at the very last second before it would normally turn off, this blue screen pops up. I'm not very good with computers and I have no idea what's going on, any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

That is called the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). BSOD is the system stopping all system processes due to an instability to prevent further damage to the operating system. It's a system crash.

Since you built the system, you should have an install disk. Just pop that in and boot to it. When the menu comes up, there is an option to repair the installation of windows, that should fix any messed up system files for you.

So you're talking about the Windows 7 disk, right? And will that erase anything?

Thanks
