Hello everyone, been having an issue with my Alienware Aurora R15 for over a year. I will get black screens and fans ramp up to 100%. Doesn’t really matter if I’m gaming or just surfing the web (mostly see it happening while gaming). Normally to resolve the issue I have to force shut down the system, unplug/replug the gpu to psu cable and it will work for 10min to a day.

Specs:
CPU: Intel i7-13700kf
GPU: RTX 4080
CPU Liquid Cooling
RAM: 32GB [2 x 16GB] DDR5 4800MHz
PSU: 1350W Alienware Cryo-Tech (TM) Edition

Things I’ve tried:
  • Sent PC back to Dell (All they did was reinstall operating system)
  • Updated bios to newest version as of sept. 18
  • Updated all drivers
  • Removed and reinstalled GPU
  • Removed and reinstalled RAM
  • Tried Overclocking and Underclocking
  • Limited the power in After burner
  • Increased fan speeds
  • Looked at the cables for damage, none I could see

I’m not very tech savvy, this is my first PC but any help would be nice

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Did you clear the CMOS after verifying your BIOS was flashed to the latest version? What OS are you working with? If the platform's OS is on the latest version, you can use DUD to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually reinstall with the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command.

Have you monitored the temps of your components using HWInfo and seen if the black screens are correlated?

Sorry for the late reply, been a busy week.
I did clear the CMOS and then ensured the BIOS was current. I have Windows 11. I have removed all the drivers and reinstalled them like you mentioned.

Temperatures for the GPU are normally at 39-47 degrees Celsius. I have also had the issue happen recently (twice) where the screens go black and fans ramp up while I am logging into my computer.

In the event viewer I am seeing a bunch of errors. For the criticals it is all Event ID 41 Kernal-Power, happened 30 times in the last 7 days. Errors are hard to share since there are so many but the main 3 are:
  • Synapse 3 Web service, 320 times in 7 days.
  • Event 131 DeviceSetupManager, 270 times in 7 days
  • Event 6008 Eventlog (for unexpected shutdowns) 31 times in 7 days
