Hi,

This is not uncommon. It is when the audio caps have an electrical interference with something else in your PC, like a coil from your PSU (please do yourself a favour and get a decent branded PSU) interfere with one another. Solution: get a new power supply, new sound card. Or just get a new PSU and live with the noise.

I do have a decent branded power supply though and does the coil affect it if it's in the front panel?

The noise could simply be travelling through some vents in the case. Best way to see is to take the card out and see if you hear anything. If you don't, its the sound card. If you do, its either your PSU or even your motherboard; we will work on diagnosing these later.
What specs do you have?

When I take out the usb soundcard I don't hear any noise when I plug in my mic, so it is the sound card, but is something happening to the soundcard that I can stop, is basically my question.

Just realised its a USB one. Generally any PCIE peripheral is miles better than a USB one. I would recommend you get an internal one. There is nothing you can do if it is a USB one, and even if it was an internal one you wouldn't be able to do much anyway. I recommend you get a PCIE soundcard if that is possible. Why do you need a soundcard anyway? Do you do work with audio? Gone are the days of the motherboard audio being crappy, I'm a right audiphile and on my board the audio is amazing (but in all fairness I have a fairly high end board).

Specs please.

It's not really a sound card it is for my condenser microphone because my computer input is really bad so I need it, originally I used it to power my mic but I got phantom power thinking I wouldn't need the USB thingy anymore but without it my audio sounded bad so I put it back in and the audio was better but had static because if it
Check the OP and I have a link to it
