Greetings,

My system as below ( a new one, 1 month old )

GSKILL 32GB (2x16GB) Ripjaws V Black 3200MHz CL16 DDR4 Dual Kit Ram

GIGABYTE AORUS 1TB 7300 Gen4 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 Windforce OC 8GB GDDR6

GIGABYTE H610M S2H DDR4 3200 MHz Socket 1700 M.2

Intel Core i3 13100F

The monitor I use is an AOC 24" 24G2SPU/BK 165Hz 1ms HDMI DP FHD IPS Gaming monitor (I connect via DP and use it as 165Hz). As far as I checked, all hardware/software in my system is up to date. My internet speed is 100 Mbps, and I get between 60-80 in tests. When I play games: LoL highest settings are 1080p, 300 FPS+ 5ms; CS: GO2's highest settings are 1080p 250FPS+, WoW Retail's highest settings are 1080p 150FPS+.

Regardless of the game, if any YouTube video is open in the background Chrome tab, a very annoying lag occurs in games. FPS definitely does not decrease, and ms does not increase, but for example, in LoL, the champion teleports when right-clicking to move, both in the minimap and in normal view; In CS: GO and WoW, even if I take my hand off the keyboard, it moves forward as if I were keep pressing the "W" key, cannot fire, no skills are cast, and the keys I press while chatting in all games are delayed. These lags last for 4-5 seconds on an average spike, then may occur again a few minutes later. There is no such problem outside of the game. While these are happening, the YouTube video in the background stops and goes into loading mode, and the processor fan (stock) speeds up as usual and becomes louder. When you close the YouTube video, these problems disappear so much that they are not noticeable. When the game is not open, there is no problem even if there are 50 YouTube tabs, they all work.

I don't think it is related to the internet, my old system was an APU system purchased in 2015, so I did not experience these problems.

Does anyone have experience and can help?

Thanks.

Hey there,

TBH, I'd put this down to your CPU. It's a bit on the light side for gaming, in terms of cores. Sure, it's a decent entry level gaming CPU, but with 4c/4t you can't expect much. As soon as it maxes out you will have some stuttering, which I can't believe you haven't experienced yet. You most certainly don't want to be running any youtube vids or have many browser tabs open. Your CPU can't afford the cycles.

Any online multiplayer game will suffer with your CPU.

IMO, you need a CPU upgrade to really get the most from your GPU. I would then suspect your issues will go.

What temps are your GPU and CPU hitting during gaming?

Hello!

Thanks for your insight.

I checked it via Gigabyte Control Centre and it did not exceed 60-70.

But isn't it a little bit odd? I mean I had this 2015 APU system, and it never experienced this before. I believe 13th gen i3 would be much better than a 8 years old AMD APU.

Have you tried keeping the frame rate locked to 165 to match your refresh rate? This could reduce the call to your cpu/gpu.
Hi!

I did not try that but the games I'm playing should not really require such sweat, no? I mean League of Legends, Counter Strike and whatnot. Every computer on the market today would run them. And also, the problem does not occure and because of the game. It happens when there's only one single tab of YouTube playing. It lags each other out, I mean, in the same time game lags and YouTube video stops and CPU fan gets crazy.

What were the specs of your previous system?

Yes, it's a little odd, given you've 'upgraded'.

Did you install the OS fresh when you changed system?

Also, what power plan are you running?

It was just an AMD A10 78xx with 8gigs of RAM, no GPU only APU.

Yes, the previous system was Win7, now this is Win10.

If you mean PSU by power plan, it is 650Watt 80plus bronze.

That GPU is definitely stressing your CPU out, and if you have programs and stuff stressing the CPU in the background even more, there's no chance this CPU can provide the frames and smooth gameplay with the GPU.

Greetings!

With all due respect, how am I supposed to be sure that this is a problem with the CPU when my stuff is open and when I check in task manager, it's like maximum usage of CPU is like 30%-40% while I'm experiencing such '' lags ''. ?

It goes around between 30%-40% when I have an online game open ( MMORPG - FPS- MOBA ) and at the same time a YouTube tab playing at 1080p, a blank Google tab, and Discord in the background. When I shut Chrome completely and have a Discord+Game open, it reduces down to 20%-30% CPU usage. I mean, 10% should not make a such huge difference whereas I have like 50% rest of my CPU free.

As it seems, oddly, my system does not support above 40% CPU usage. What happened to my other 60%? Haha.

Hello, well to be honest your CPU usage should never be close to 100 % usage in the end, and this normally won't even happen unless you're running a stress tests, or the CPU is just extremely powerless. I don't think watching the CPU usage is a good indicator for "performance wise" either. Nowadays, for proper multitasking and gaming, you should at least have the double of the cores and threads your current CPU has, especially if you wanna run other programs with modern games.
