[SOLVED] I'm having weird CPU usage spikes and the system freezes ?

I need some help I'm having weird freezing on my PC just watching youtube videos on Microsoft Edge, today happened again, I could see my CPU usage spiking 2 times and both of them over 70% (it never goes that high) and then the task administrator and the system stops responding. I was reading people fixing values for the CPU on the BIOS fixed their BSOD but I don't really know wich values to input.

System specs:
-Ryzen 5 5600x
-Asus TUF B550M plus wifi
-2x8 Crucial ballistix 3200mhz BL8G32C16U4BL
-3070 Zotac Twin Edge LHR
-SSD Nvme. Western Digital Green SN350 480gb
-700w EVGA Bronze
-MSI Coreliquid 240r

Something like this would be better. Despite being a rather unknown brand, this PSU is an A tier (second best) on most PSU Tier lists.

I had very similar issues on my new build with similar specs. Here's what I built with a clean install of Windows 11:

  • Ryzen 5 5600x
  • Asus TUF B550M-Plus WiFi
  • 2x16 TeamGroup Force Delta RGB 3600MHz (TF3D432G3600HC18JDC01)
  • MSI Gaming RTX 3060 Ti
  • Nvme SSD - Western Digital Black SN850 1TB
  • 750W Segotep 80-Plus Gold
  • Stock AMD Wraith cooler + 2x 120mm front/rear fans and a dual Cooler Master 240mm radiator RGB fan at top

Symptoms were that system would be running fine and exit high load game and PC would freeze. Mouse cursor still moves and some elements interact for a few seconds but eventually everything is locked up until forced reset. Often this would happen after waking from sleep. There seems to be an issue with ASUS or Windows when managing low power settings of Ryzen Zen 3 parts. I found other threads on reddit that suggested disabling the C0 states in BIOS and I have been running a little over1 week with no issues.

Here's how to change settings:

  1. Reboot and Enter BIOS (F2)
  2. Enter Advanced Menu (F7?)
  3. Advanced Tab
  4. CPU Configuration
  5. Scroll down and find CPU Power Management
  6. Change CPU C-States from Auto->Disabled
  7. Exit and save settings

I'll update if I have any issues..

I have to ask something about your build, what is the exact 700w EVGA PSU you are using? I am not aware of any decent 700w EVGA PSUs. Since this system is still new you might still be able to return it and get a PSU that is much better for a similar price.

Thank you very much for your answer, I will look up to it. I could get rid of the issue by Disabling Armoury Crate on the bios and making a clean windows installation. It's been a few weeks without issues so far but if it comes up again I will change this settings, please update if the problem comes up again.

Good for light entry level gaming GPU and parts. You have a relatively high end gaming PC that costs thousands. If a PSU falters under load it can kill parts in the PC. This is why you usually spend more on a PSU in mid to higher end gaming PCs.

Can you link me a website that you can buy computer parts on for a decent price. PCpartpicker does not have Chile as a selectable country and the closest country Argentina does not have any selection to choose from for PSUs.
