Im i ready to upgrade?

I want to know if i can upgrade my phenom x2 545 to something newer without upgrade my motherboard the Asus M4N98TD EVO and i want to know if i would need to update my bios

The fastest being the Phenom II X6 1100T, I have one and it still keeps up with today's modern stuff. That said they don't make it any more but it can be found on ebay for around $100 or less these days.

You need to check your BIOS version , if it is 1003 or higher you are fine, as per the page. otherwise you can download the update there, do it with the old processor still installed.
