So today I start building my PC and when I got finished connecting everything together it wouldn't start, the power button just didn't work at all. It may be the front panel connections but ive tried lots of different ways of connecting them. I am using a Zalman Z11 Plus case , an i5 4460 with an Asus h97 plus motherboard. I am also using an Akasa Venom 750W power supply which doesnt seem to be the problem because i tested it on a different machine and it is working perfectly. To my knowledge i did everything correctly so either i made a foolish mistake im unaware of, the mothetboard is faulty or the front panel connections are wrong but i need help none the less :(

Im begging you all please :(

Solution
Try connecting the reset pin to the power on header and press the reset button to turn on the machine. The front IO power button may be broken.

That is exactly the thought I was having. I'm sure you just forgot to plug something in or didn't seat your 24pin all the way. Read your motherboard manual and make sure you have your front panel pins plugged in properly. Asus usually has a little labeling system on or next to their front panel cables to assist you in getting them plugged in right. Remember that the LEDs need to have the positive and negative oriented right (positive is usually the colored wire), but the restart and power buttons dont have a proper orientation.

Also make sure you flipped the power switch on your PSU to the on position.

Use a paper clip and short the two pins on the motherboard where the power switch header is connected. If it does not boot your board, it is not a front IO issue.

If that does not work... Disconnect all non essential hardware and try to boot again.

Non essential hardware (dvd drive, all but 1 ram dimm, hard drives, fans, video cards)

You should just take it all apart very carefully and start from scratch if that doesn't work. I always put the mobo on the mobo box and put the memory and cpu on, connect the PSU to the 4/8Pin cpu power and the 24pin connector and connect it to the monitor to make sure everything posts before I even throw it in the case. I have built over 2 dozen computers and I still do this on almost all of my builds.
