Hey there, I'm getting ready for Cyberpunk 2077 I've already upgraded my GPU from a 970 to a used 1070 and I'm thinking about doing the same for my CPU. I've also got 8GB of DDR3 ram, and I kind of don't want to buy two whole new sticks to extend the life span of my CPU I'm thinking about upgrading it and just buy 16 gigs of DDR4

The problem is that I'm on a budget, I've got two CPU's on my mind the I5-9400F and the i5-10400F they are both under 200€ and with a new motherboard and ram I think my budget will be fine. Would any of those 2 be considered an upgrade? I know I have an upgradable path to a I7 later down the years, but would any of those be worth the money spend (I've already got a GPU and a PSU)

So should I wait for newer budget Intel CPU's or should I make the jump?

(I'm doing some slight editing and photoshop as a hobby, but nothing much I've been okay with my i7-3770 so far)

PC Specs
I7-3770
GTX 1070
8GB
VS550
1x SSD
2x HDD's

Solution
Here are the benchmarks for all three.
Both CPUs are significant upgrades over the 3770.
Both have two more cores.
Both should run a 1070 fine. I think the 3770 might be stressing with the 1070 at times.

Same thing on the same page for easy comparison. :D

Either of them will be a solid upgrade from the 3770 or even the 3770k as their single thread performance is hard to match even with an OC 3770k, not to mention 2x more cores.
