So i have some sort of Dell/creative soundblaster xfi that has sketchy driver support and half the features work and my whole setup in general is kinda weird, i'm mainly looking for a sound card that uses pci (my 1x pci-e is covered by my gfx card) and also has optical out and drivers that work so i can utilize my reciever for 5.1 surround sound. my current sound card just blasts my sound through all the channels, no matter what setting i choose on the creative console. a sound card that works with games is a must

I don't believe the DG supports either Dolby Digital Live or DTS Interactive, so the output will be limited to Stereo when using Optical unless already encoded in either Dolby or DTS formats (which 99.9% of all games do not have).

The ASUS Xonar DS supports DTS Interactive, which should meet your needs (assuming your receiver supports DTS; I can't imagine yours doesn't).
